Shaving Tips

Here is our simple shaving routine to help you achieve the perfect shave:

  • Moisten the face with warm water. Using your fingers and circular movements gently apply Edwin Jagger facial exfoliant. Pressure is not required as the product texture and natural ingredients do the work for you. Rinse the face thoroughly in cool water.

  • Using your fingers to apply Edwin Jagger hydrating pre shave lotion with circular movements and massage into the face, softening the beard while re hydrating the skin and creating a protective layer.

  • Dip your shaving brush in clean hot water and shake off excess.

  • Using a small amount of shaving cream, or shaving soap in a bowl, work up a rich lather and apply to the beard in circular movements with a shaving brush. You can use your fingers to apply lather but using a shaving brush will massage, soften and lift the beard hair to improve the shaving result.

  • Shave with your preferred razor using slow short strokes in the direction of hair growth, rinsing the razor often. Allow the razor to glide over the skin; do not apply much pressure. Below the jaw line shave with the growth of the beard; learn the direction of growth by exploring your beard with wet, soapy fingers. At the collar line on the lower neck area the hair growth reverses direction so you may need to shave this area only upwards towards the chin. Shaving against the direction of hair growth may cause soreness, discomfort and in grown hairs.

  • Rinse the face thoroughly in cool water and pat dry.

  • To finish, apply Edwin Jagger aftershave lotion or a moisturiser to condition the skin for a clean, smooth sensation.

We would recommend that you also rinse your shaving brush and razor thoroughly in hot water after use.

Dry your razor to keep it looking clean and smart.

Shake excess water from your shaving brush and hang it in a stand to dry naturally.

Using a shaving brush in your daily shaving routine may prolong the life of your razor blades.
